Dear Buzzers,

I’ve been thinking so much lately, about how divided we are in every way possible. And how strong our desire to want to be different hold us captive and further isolates us from the world, giving us reasons to want to hate, to want to condemn, to want to point fingers and inflict pain.

However, I also realized that we were first humans before any other thing. And at birth we never got to choose the kind of people we actually are today. We simply got shaped by ideologies and assumptions and theories and maybes and lots of she said and he said. And so every ideology divides us, every belief system, Nationality, Color, Heritage, Background, Class, Religion, Culture, and we move on to irrelevant things like temperament and the zodiac and our kind of personality. But when did all this begin? Who told you you are superior to anyone? What makes you think you are inferior to anyone?

We’ve grown too accustomed to being different, so much that we do not see the chaos we cause with our actions through discrimination, segregation… it’s unnecessary. Who propounded the theory that you must kill anyone whose faith doesn’t align with yours? Who says you have to be nepotic about anything at all? Who says you must build relationships with only those who happen to be in your “class” financial wise or anything wise for that matter?

In time, our kids would pick up from where we left off. They’ll look at a man on a wheelchair and laugh their hearts out, they’ll tell a woman whose color contrasts theirs that she is less of a human and they’ll walk the streets of the world with no regards for the culture of another.

Like I once read, tags and labels are just that, tags and labels. They do not define you or make you superior or inferior. And it is up to you to claim those tags or reject them. You’re human, that’s enough tag already. You’re not black, or white, or red..you’re not just a Muslim, a Christian, a Buddhist, a Traditionalists, you’re certainly not just a faith or an ideology, or a citizen of a country, you’re human. You’re an actual person. And the knowledge of that alone should unite us.
